  3. Day 03 Guwahati – Tezpur (180 Kms / 05 Hrs)

Heading out of congested Guwahati as daybreak, we ride east towards the rising sun on four lane national highways. Today we ride to Tezpur, a historic city lying at the north bank of the Brahmaputra. The distance for the day day is 180Km, which should be short work, taking us at the most five hours. The idea is to get used to the new environment and riding conditions gradually. Before getting in to Tezpur we will make a brief stopover at the Kolia Bhumura bridge, where we take a short boat ride to sight the ever dwindling Gangetic River Dolphins. Once at the hotel, we will have a short debrief regarding the day and also brief you regarding the next day’s ride. These evening sessions will be the norm throughout the trip.

  4. Day 04 Tezpur – Bomdila (235 Kms / 07 -08 Hrs)

Today will be our first day on the mountains. Here on we will be riding along the Bhutan border for most of the day. Initially we have dense evergreen forests at the lower altitudes, but as we climb you will notice the vegetation changing and becoming sparse. In relative terms the roads are generally in good condition.

  5. Day 05 Bomdila – Tawang (170 Kms / 07-08 Hrs)

Today will be a long and high road as we pass the 13700ft Sela Pass. We start with a descent towards the Dirang Valley. The next stage takes us up to the Sela pass which is a constant climb. There is always a high chance of finding snow up here, but the Army usually ensure its open throughout the year. From here, a long descent with numerous hairpins takes us to the valley floor only to start climbing again. Situated at 10,000ft Tawang is the last proper town before Tibet in this sector. Tawang, a town famous for its Monastery which is one of the important religious centres of Tibetian Buddhism and its panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayas into Bhutan in the west and Tibet on the North. /in older times this used to be a important town due to its proximity to Tibet and Bhutan.

  6. Day 06 Tawang

This is an optional day, those who want to rest and explore around Tawang can do so. For the ones who want to ride we take you close to the tri-juncture of Bhutan-Tibet and India.
